Tammy Miller to serve on Affiliated Distributors' Board of Directors

FARGO, North Dakota – Tammy Miller, CEO of Border States, has been invited to serve on the Board of Directors for Affiliated Distributors (A-D). Miller will begin her term in May.

Border States has been a member of A-D since the mid 1980s. A-D is the largest wholesale buying and marketing group in North America comprised of over 370 independent distributor companies with over 3,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada. A-D’s membership does over $24 billion in sales across five industries: electrical supplies, industrial supplies, plumbing supplies, heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and supplies, and pipe, valves and fittings. Its headquarters are in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.

Miller joined Border States as the accounting manager in 1991 and was appointed treasurer in 1992. She has served in a variety of positions at the corporate office, including corporate controller, vice president of finance, senior vice president and executive vice president. In 2003, she relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where she assumed general management responsibilities for the Southwest Region. Miller was named president in 2005 and CEO in January 2006. She has been a Border States officer and member of the Board of Directors since 1996, and an Executive Council member since its inception in 1997.

Miller is the first woman to serve as board chair for the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED). She has been a member of NAED’s Board of Directors for eight years and has served as the association’s Finance Committee Chair, the Special Pricing Authorization (SPA) Distributor Task Force Chair, and the Western Region Vice President. Miller also serves on a variety of industry and community boards and advisory committees.

Border States provides products and services to the construction, industrial, utility, and data communications markets. Active employees own 100 percent of the company under the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The employee-owned company has more than 1,200 employees and 51 branch operations in 11 states and Mexico. Border States is one of the 100 largest private ESOP companies in America and one of the few ESOP companies headquartered in North Dakota.
