Border States Electric Named Silver ESOP Award Winner
May 2010
Border States Electric (BSE) has been named a Silver ESOP Award winner by The ESOP Association. The Silver ESOP Awards recognize companies for their work in sustaining their ESOP for 25 years or more. The ESOP Association is a national non-profit membership organization for companies with employee stock ownership plans (ESOP) and a leading voice in America for employee ownership.
BSE provides products and services to the construction, industrial, and utility markets. Active employees own 100 percent of the company under the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The employee-owned company has about 1,300 employees and 60 branch operations in 14 states and Mexico. BSE is the 10th largest electrical distributor and one of the 100 largest private ESOP companies in the United States. Corporate headquarters are located in Fargo, North Dakota.
To be named a Silver ESOP Award winner, a company must be a member of The ESOP Association and have an ESOP in place for 25 years or more. BSE established the ESOP on April 1, 1984.
The core tenet of The ESOP Association is that employee ownership improves American competitiveness, increases productivity through greater employee participation, and strengthens our free enterprise economy.
